2026-10-31: Whelen Command CANport setup added

Parent projects: Upfit Studio and F-150 Emergency Lighting and 12V Upfit.

Between the morning sync and the evening of 31 Oct, Upfit Studio went from version 0.5.2 to 0.8.10. The biggest addition is the Whelen Command CANport setup: eight vehicle signals the CanTrol reads from the OBD-II port through the Whelen CC5K1 kit.

Area Change Page
CANport New section: the eight CAN inputs, how they were set up (0.8.0 to 0.8.10), the read-only Command file compare, simulation, the programming sheet and status Upfit Studio
CANport Same table on the F-150 output plan Output plan
Controller Brake and Park confirmed in Command’s F150 2017 list; link to the CANport plan Controller
Output plan Regenerated from 0.8.10: E68Xtreme sweep on the arrow keys, EFM rear lamps in slide 3, full Grand Control Box name Output plan
Upfit Studio Stand-alone controller simulators (0.6.0), installer / EVT quote packet (0.7.0), Windows build fixes, version history to 0.8.10, 9 new screenshots, tests now 195 pass Upfit Studio

The CANport tables on both pages are drawn from one file, src/data/f150-upfit/canport.json, written by scripts/sync_upfit_studio.py from the app’s own plan. A change to the CANport setup is re-synced in one step and shows up on both pages.

Seven of the eight CAN inputs are keyed into my Command file “-3” (brake pop first pass only). Shift out of Park is not programmed yet. Nothing has been bench-tested on the module or truck.

A newer Command file, “-4”, was saved the same evening. It has the same Command version, names and eight CAN signals as “-3”, which still match the plan. A byte-by-byte comparison (7 Nov) showed it is a re-save with the same settings: only a header checksum, an internal temporary file name and the order of three identical logic blocks differ. CAN 6 (Park) and the brake pop timer are still not programmed.
